Jeffrey “Dallas” Cohn enlightened me, educated me, empowered me and enabled me to move back into my life. And that was no small accomplishment! After working a program with Dallas, I was without pain, standing taller, moving easily through my athletic world and feeling decades younger.

Gravity is the true teacher.

Dr Ida P Rolf

My journey into Structural Integrative (SI) Bodywork began over 25 years ago. It began with my own struggle with back pain that was beginning to interfere with my work, sleep, exercise — my daily life.

Through a job that I did with repetitive movements and not much body awareness came the beginnings of functional postural patterns that caused me much pain and anguish. Having to curtail treasured outdoor experiences, even being unable to walk my dog without pain and discomfort, made for a diminished life experience.

In Greek, ‛soma’ means ‛body’ and ‛naugtes’ means “sailor”. So a ‛somanaught’ navigates his/her body, sailing upon the waves of the human sea. Like the astronaut who navigates outer space, the somanaught explores inner space. Somanaughts are a courageous lot, the rich treasures lurking in the wild blue self make the real risks of looking and feeling inward deeply compelling, and enormously rewarding.

Gil Hedley

After an accident and many attempts at many approaches, I was introduced to Structural Integration. After the first session I felt hope that my destiny was not to live in pain forever and after the second session, I found a strong foundation to stand upon and decided that this was my life’s work and I had to know how to practice it and bring this magical healing work to all of those whose journey brings them to Structural Integrative Bodywork.

The additional inspiration to my work is colored by my many teachers in bodywork, yoga, movement and body awareness, throwing pottery, and my own personal experiences of, and in the “work”.

Better than 90% of the energy output of the brain is used in regulating the physical body in it’s gravitational field. The more mechanically distorted a person is, the less energy is available for thinking, metabolism and healing.
